Ferry Damaged In Collision At Hainan Strait

Container ship HONG YANG collided with ferry JIAN FENG LING in Hainan Strait at 0350 Beijing time April 5.

Several passengers were slightly injured.

From the description of accident it seems like container ship struck ferry’s starboard, inflicting serious damages.

Hull was dented and breached, liferafts damaged or torn off, some trucks and cars on cargo deck damaged and/or destroyed.

Container ship sustained fore section damages, but no containers loss mentioned.
Container ship was en route to Haikou, Hainan and bound for Qinzhou on Apr 8.

JIAN FENG LING has been taken to Hainan after collision and later moved to Zhanjiang.

Passenger ro-ro ship JIAN FENG LING, MMSI 413523230, GT 10940, flag China.
